Lindsell Train was established in 2000 by Michael Lindsell and Nick Train and was founded on the shared investment philosophy that developed while they worked together during the early 1990s and which underlies our business today.
We focus on the management of UK, Global, Japanese and North American equity mandates, all managed to an identical investment approach.
From the outset, the founders were determined to keep corporate complexity, including hierarchy, to a minimum. As such, Lindsell Train continues to maintain a small and simple organisational structure that avoids excessive bureaucracy and distractions.
The structure is designed to allow the investment professionals to concentrate on investment issues and to give them the freedom to invest in line with their investment principles, which we believe will maximise returns to our investors over the longer term.
We look to build strong and positive relationships with our clients by providing professional, responsive and friendly service.
Our Business Principles
- To run client investments as we would run our own
- To align our interests with those of our clients
- To take the long view on investment performance and business development
Our ownership structure allows us to maintain the integrity of the three business principles on which the culture of our company has been built.
Lindsell Train Limited continues to be majority owned by the two founders, with The Lindsell Train Investment Trust plc (a London-listed closed end fund, which was established in 2000 to help fund the asset management company and to seed new products) owning the largest minority stake. Key staff are incentivised to build their careers at Lindsell Train through the opportunity over time to buy shares in the company.
